The University Hospital Hradec Králové is one of the biggest health facilities in both Eastern Bohemia and the Czech Republic. Every year, more than 40,000 patients are admitted to 23 departments with more than 1,500 beds; approximately 40% of these patients are operated. About 500,000 patients are treated as out-patients. The hospital employs over 4,000 workers.
The most complicated surgical operations are performed here and considering the technologies the hospital applies in diagnostics, treatment and treatment results, it can be compared to similar European hospitals.
Taken the Top 100 companies in the Czech Republic selected each year since 1999 by Czech Top 100, a.s. and published in the Hospodářské noviny daily, amongst other publications, the University Hospital Hradec Králové ranked 99th in 2009. Companies are ranked according to their turnover.
In 2009 the University Hospital Hradec Králové took the prestigious 1st place in the University Hospitals of the Czech Republic Category.
Central wards and central sterilization units work for the Department of Cardiosurgery, the Department of Surgery and the Department of Urology. Facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and about 6,000 more than minor and major operations are performed each year. The Central Sterilization Unit provides services to the entire hospital. It underwent reconstruction in 2004 and is equipped with new steam, chemical and plasma sterilization technology by BMT. The facility treats and sterilizes, in average, about 700,000 instruments and aids per year. Environment quality, the observance of legislative standards and work results are monitored at both facilities on an on-going basis.
Work commenced in July 2010 to assemble BMT products worth about 7 million CZK in total at several modernized University Hospital facilities, namely at the Department of Paediatrics, Department of Neurology, Department of Dentistry and the laundry room. After ten years we replace our long-standing rival GETINGE at the Laundry Sterilization Unit with two STERIVAP 9612 -2 FDD FDT sterilizers. One STERIVAP 636-1 ED steam sterilizer has been fitted in the newly erected Department of Dentistry and one STERIVAP 666-2 ED steam sterilizer has been installed at the Department of Neurosurgery. Two STERICELL 404 hot-air sterilizers have been placed with the Department of Paediatrics to treat baby bottles.
Today, most of the sterilization units in the University Hospital of Hradec Králové are equipped with steam sterilizers by BMT, including two big Central Sterilization Units and the Laundry Sterilization Unit. This being the case, we have finally taken up the dominant position in one of the biggest hospitals in the Czech Republic.
