At present, Saudi Arabia is a country of many changes, differences and huge business potential. About half of the population has not reached 25 years of age! Many of us could certainly envy the permanently warm and sunny weather with temperatures between 20°C and 45°C, the crystal-clear Red Sea with plenty of corals and fish and nearly empty beaches (most of people cannot swim). The gas and fuel oil price would certainly become a hit – world unrivalled 1.80 CZK/liter!!!
MMM Company started the first business contacts more than 25 years ago by central sterilization deliveries to the projects of new hospitals built in Saudi Arabia by supranational European companies. MMM sterilizers delivery for the Al Mana–Hospitále chain seated in Al Khobar was our probably best known job at that time (Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Mana has remained faithful to us and his hospitals are equipped with Sterivap devices now). Thanks to their quality and reliability, MMM devices have gained good reputation and the last of the then delivered devices (more than 25-year old) were replaced 1-2 years ago. After the termination of external building activities, the sterilizer supplies were also interrupted about 20 years ago. The market had been then developing under the influence of our competitors and, therefore, we decided in the mid-1990s to rebuild the strong MMM position in this prospective locality.
In 1996-97, sales activities were commenced to build a top-quality sales network. We contacted about 40 local companies and chose Attieh Medico Co. seated in Jeddah as the best one. It was a good choice as we have been cooperating with this company till now without any interruption. It was in 1998 already when BMT, in cooperation with its new local partner Attieh Medico Co., delivered the first Sterivap 6612-2 ED to the central hospital in Dammam (and the sterilizer has been working there reliably till now!). This success met the response soon and was followed by a number of other successful projects. At present, about 80 hospitals in all important towns have been equipped with our devices, including the Muslim places of pilgrimage –Mecca and Medina. In Saudi Arabia, about 200 BMT and MMM sterilizers have already been working now. MMM Group has thus returned to its leading market position. At the end of the last year, great changes in the management of the Ministry of Health Service took place and new workers have brought new activities and interest in modern technologies even in the field of central sterilizations. Our effort resulted in a visit of the leading sterilization professionals in Germany in April 2010. The MMM company management, Messrs. R. Balzer and R. Eibl, and MMM specialists did a really perfect job on that occasion and both their lectures and two visited MMM references assured the Saudi Arabian specialists of interest in deepening of our cooperation in new projects implementation. The visit has opened us the door to all sterilization experts at the Ministry of Health Service in Riyadh and the meetings held with them on 23 May can be considered prospective a lot. The Ministry of Health Service has been preparing an ambitious program of central sterilization departments modernization in about 180 hospitals.
It is our principal task now to get an interesting part of this order. 2011 has been very positive for us again in Saudi Arabia till now. We have delivered 5 steam sterilizers already from the beginning of the year and another Sterivap will be delivered in June. In March, we managed to win the tender for the still greatest order – comprehensive central sterilization delivery for the King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, amounting approximately CZK 35 mio. (€ 1.4 mio.). From our range of products, we will deliver 4 great Selectomat PL autoclaves, steam generators, stainless steel furniture and Ecosoft software for tools flow tracing. Our local partners will provide for all construction works, existing sterilization demounting and new devices mounting. Our “zero water consumption” offer was one of the parameters that helped us to get this order; the sterilizers will be connected to the central water cooling system in the hospital (good-quality water is much more expensive in this country than fuel…) and the required water for the vacuum pumps will circulate in a closed system (like in a car). This order will be implemented inQ3 and will represent our greatest and best reference in the country. Attieh Medico Co., our local partner, has also been developing successfully and its new seat is an impressive place for dealings about our devices delivery. Both the sellers and service technicians attend regularly our trainings in Europe and thanks also to our common success, the company has increased the number of employees from the initial 10 to nearly 70!
